As the only magazine today, which is dedicated to technical and mission-oriented diving, InDEPTH has increased its staff to twice its size in order to deepen and extend the journal’s coverage and content on the underwater realm.

Now in its fourth year, the spirited publication, which is hosted by Global Underwater Explorers (GUE), the global community of impassioned technical divers, has a simple goal: “benevolent world domination!” according to a recent press release.

“We want to be the #1 must-read, global publication for tech, cave, breath-hold and other mission-oriented divers,” said co-founder and editor-in-chief Michael Menduno, who established and produced the seminal aquaCORPS Journal from 1990 to 1996, a publication that helped bring technical diving into the mainstream.

Every issue of inDEPTH takes a comprehensive look into topics such as exploration, human factors and dive safety, dive physiology, training, equipment and technology, community, conservation, culture and art as well as dive history. Sponsors of the publication include some of the best brands in the dive industry.

This Mix First media outlet has added four professional members to its team, according to Menduno. They will help produce InDEPTH every month, which is described as “a labor of love or narcosis” by the editor-in-chief.

The new members include the managing editor Ashley Stewart, a Seattle-based business and technology journalist; production director Rico Besserdich, an artist, author, award-winning photographer and former CMAS course director; art director SJ Alice Bennett, a graphic artist, designer and award-winning underground photojournalist; and survey-meister Darcy Kieran, a principle of the Business Diving Institute.

They will join the manager of copy-editing, Pat Jablonski (a former writing instructor, writer and copy editor), as well as copy editors Nic Haylett and Katy Taber-Olensky, and production assistant Kenzie Potter. Biographies and contact information for these team members can be found at: About Us.

Look for new posts by InDEPTH on the first Thursday of each month. Subscription is free, and InDEPTH subscribers will receive an email every week with new stories and content, written by some of the leading explorers, researchers, engineers, educators, hyperbaric physicians, conservationists and divers on earth. “We want to be the go-to source for the people who can’t get enough of this stuff—the water tribe people,” said Menduno. “I like to think of it as aquaCORPS for the 21st century.”
