Lens Beyond Ocean 2024: Call for submissions

As the organizers put it, Lens Beyond Ocean (LBO) “is more than a competition—it’s an odyssey.” And with that notion in mind, they invite photographers and videographers at all levels, from novice to professional, to take up the challenge, go on a quest to dive the seas, and bring back images of the magic, mystery and magnificence of the underwater world.

SDUFEX Underwater Film Festival Open for Submissions March 1, 2023

The San Diego Undersea Film Exhibition (SDUFEX) is proud to announce plans for their 24th Annual Underwater Film Festival on October 6 & 7, 2023.

The in-person event will be held at San Diego’s state of the art Qualcomm Auditorium. Each evening, the upwards of 500 attendees will enjoy a completely different line up of films.

World Shootout Announces Winners of 2022 Underwater Photo Competition

Claudio Ceresi from Italy won the top valuable prize for best picture of the year - a $10,000 worth of 3 weeks diving vacation for 2 people, in Papua New Guinea.

11th Annual Ocean Art Underwater Photo Contest Winners Announced

It is clear from this year’s winning images that our community of underwater photographers has dived into a new and exciting post-pandemic era.

An unprecedented caliber of photos was ushered in by the lifting of travel restrictions – including our best in show image featuring another teachable moment from an octopus.

This photo, captured in Palm Beach, Florida by Kat Zhou, depicts the bittersweet final days between a mother octopus and her young before dying of old age.

2022 Underwater Tour Photo Competition winners announced

The event in 2022 marked the first time that the Underwater Tour Awards partnered with environmental education and action organisation Take 3, introducing a new category for novices called, The Take 3 for the Sea Contest. Proceeds from the contest registration fees and additional donations were given to Take 3.

2022 Ocean Art Underwater Photo Competition Announced

The Underwater Photography Guide is delighted to announce that it is accepting entries for the 2022 edition of the annual Ocean Art Underwater Photo Competition – the 11th annual Ocean Art competition!

This year’s competition features over $100,000 in prizes, making Ocean Art the world’s largest and most prestigious underwater photo competition. The competition attracts amateur to pro photographers across the globe.

A new photo competition has taken root on the western coast of Sweden, where local and international participants enjoy an exciting week of shooting underwater in Smögen, competing for attractive prizes. One of the contest’s organisers, Annika Malmberg, shares the story of the event, from the initial idea to the final result, as well as plans for its future.

2022 San Diego Undersea Film Exhibition is Open for Submissions

For the first time in three years, we plan to hold an "in-person" film exhibition again! The film festival will be held Saturday, October 1, 2022, at Qualcomm Hall in San Diego. The festival will also be a hybrid event with some films available online.

All Films Must Contain at Least 50% Underwater Footage

Films must be submitted via FilmFreeway no later than June 15, 2022
