Rear-facing seats will allow increased business class capacity.

Etihad Airways has unveiled its new Business Suites that will have passengers in the pointy end facing the rear of the plane. Privacy screens will ensure passengers are not directly facing one another, while integration of the rear-facing seats in ‘dovetail’ formation allows increased business class capacity allowing 70 suites in its A380. Forward and backward facing seats will be configured 1-2-1, meaning all will have aisle access.

The Business Suites will feature lie-flat beds as well as an additional workspace allowing for a laptop to be placed on the side table while a meal is served on the main table.

Business class passengers on flights of 10 hours or more will also receive complimentary loungewear and slippers, plus a mattress to make the seat more bed-like. Flights will commence from Sydney on 1 June 2015, with a Sydney to London flight costing $5500.00 AUS.
