Titanic tourist submarine goes missing
A submersible used to take tourists to view the wreck of the Titanic has gone missing in the Atlantic Ocean, BBC reports.
Paying tourists can take trips in small submarines to see the sunken wreck of the Titanic.
According to BBC, OceanGate Expeditions, a private company that organises deep sea expeditions, confirmed in a statement that it owned the missing submersible and people were on board.
The Boston Coastguard told the BBC a search and rescue operation to find the submersible was underway. OceanGate Expeditions says it is getting extensive assistance from several government agencies and deep-sea companies as it tries to regain contact with the missing sub.
Both US and Canadian naval surveillance aircraft are currently searching for it, including a highly-sophisticated P8 Poseidon aircraft with underwater detection capabilities.
