John Kendall earns top GUE CCR instructor rating

For those unfamiliar with this training agency, the qualification is the highest GUE closed-circuit rebreather (CCR) rating, ie advanced Trimix.

This means that John Kendall is able to teach both GUE's CCR courses: CCR Diver Level 1 and CCR Diver Level 2. John now joins the nine other GUE instructors in the world, capable of teaching this course.

Currently there are only 10 GUE CCR2 instructors in the world. Global Underwater Explorers

Armand Zigahn has died aged 89

It is with profound sadness that we note today the passing of Armand Zigahn. Zig, the name the thousands of men and women his life touched knew him by, passed quietly. Zig leaves behind his wife JoAnn, his sons Michael and Scott, his daughters Kimberly, Kristen, Linda, Cheryl, and grandchildren Christian, Abigail, Alexandra, Mathew, Rachel, Joshua, Jonathan, and beloved niece and nephew Ash-ley and Christopher.

Emperor Divers launches ‘Covid Diver Heroes’ initiative

Luke Atkinson, Emperor’s Red Sea Manager, said “this initiative is our way of saying ‘thank you’ to all those hundreds of people who have taken a selfless interest in looking after the vulnerable in their community. Moscow Dive Show to go ahead as planned

With restrictions on public shows, events and exhibitions being lifted by the authorities on 25 January, rates of covid-infections in Moscow and Russia going down and the country's vaccination campaign picking up pace, the organisers of Moscow Dive show intend to go ahead with their 2021 edition.  

The show was initially scheduled to be held in February, as in previous years, but was postponed due to restrictions imposed by Covid. Moscow officials now consider it likely that all remaining restrictions will be lifted within two to three months.

Two more dive shows postponed

On Friday 29 Jan and only a few hours apart, we received similar updates from the organisers of the New Jersey-based Beneath the Seas dive show and the Swedish Dive Show, Dykmässen, which in recent years have been taken place in Gothenburg in the Swedish West coast. Both announced that they will be postponing their respective events until next year due to the restrictions being imposed because of the pandemic.
