Two more dive shows postponed
Beneath the Sea and Swedish Dive Expo, both scheduled to be held in March, have been postponed to 2022 due to the still ongoing pandemic.
On Friday 29 Jan and only a few hours apart, we received similar updates from the organisers of the New Jersey-based Beneath the Seas dive show and the Swedish Dive Show, Dykmässen, which in recent years have been taken place in Gothenburg in the Swedish West coast. Both announced that they will be postponing their respective events until next year due to the restrictions being imposed because of the pandemic.

Press Release
On January 20th Governor Phil Murphy of New Jersey declared an extension of the State of Emergency edict. With over a 14 percent rate of infection the state mandate will not allow for indoor gatherings of more than 150 people at the Meadowlands Exposition Center. This does not even cover our staff of volunteers to hold Beneath the Sea, nor does it allow for all the exhibitors or the general public. Social distancing requirements are impossible to meet.
Add to that anyone traveling in may have to quarantine 14 days and provide proof of meeting Covid 19 testing requirements. Everyone will have to meet international restrictions on traveling into New Jersey or also on returning home. New Jersey is a Covid hotspot now and not exactly desirable to be visited if not necessary. All the adjacent hotels are closed. It is also clear that by the March show dates there will not be enough vaccines given to the general population to have restrictions opened.
This is the third time we have had to cancel the exposition and rather than schedule another date at this time we are waiting to see where this pandemic is taking the country and we will make our decision accordingly.
We at Beneath the Sea are very sad to have to cancel the exposition once again and hope this finds everyone well and surviving these difficult times. The best to you, your families and until we can get together in person please know you are in our hearts and we think of you as part of our (the BTS) family. We will be in touch shortly.
Tommy Jarnbrink, organiser of Dykmässen, writes:
Dear exhibitors, partners and visitors.
As we do not see any relief in the restrictions due to Covid-19, we are forced to postpone The Scandinavian Dive Show once again.
The new date is March 19-20, 2022. The payments made earlier will be valid for 2022.
This is of course very sad for all the exhibitors, the visitors and the organiser. We now have to make sure that we do everything to make The Scandinavian Dive Show 2022 really good.
But the main thing now is that we all stay healthy.
